Amphitheaters
Amphitheaters
We have two outdoor amphitheaters as well as many other small campfire locations in and around camp. Campfires are a great place to gather around outside in God's creation and enjoy music, s'mores and fellowship or to just quietly sit back and reflect on the day."Old" Amphitheater - Built 2001
The "Old" Amphitheater really is not all that old, but relative to the "new" amphitheater, it is older. Located in the Back 40 (woods behind camp) it is of comparable walk to the High Ropes course. With an elevated platform up front and seating for around 70, this is a great place to get a little ways away, hang out and cook up some s'mores.
"New" Amphitheater - Built 2003
Only slightly newer than the "Old" amphitheater, the New Amphitheater is located back on our "new" property. Built into a hill among the trees, the New Amphitheater is surrounded by towering trees. With a platform up front, seating for our kids camps (150 campers) plus staff, this is a great place for story telling, campfire songs and other actiites, the New Amphitheater is sure to meet your needs.
Other Camp Fire Locations
We have numerous other smaller venue camp fire locations located around camp. Great for a cabin or two during kids camps or stations along a prayer walk, nothing beats a small group around a fire. Locations include:
- Archery Range - Built back on what used to be our archery range, this campfire location was just put in over the summer of 2007. Not too far off the beaten track around camp, the archery field is a great place to watch the stars.
- A-Frame - Located by the A-Frame staff housing building, this campfire sees most use during prayer walks, but is always available.
- Small Wall - Located by the small wall low ropes element, this campfire was originally put in place as an outcamp area. With enough room to throw up a couple tents, or open grass to sleep on, this is still a prime place to camp out.
- Lakeside Firepit - This firepit is the longest tenured fire pit at camp. Next to where the original Outdoor Chapel Amphitheater once stood, located within camp and right along the side of the lake, this spot is hard to beat for a great campfire.
- Climbing Tower - Located adjacent to the Climbing Tower, this location sees action during our prayer walks and is the rally point for times when we have night climbs on the tower.
